In the ‘60s, ‘70s and early ‘80s my passion was backpacking in Wildlands and I did it for a week or two every year. Most of the long trips were in Idaho and were in the White Clouds, Sawtooths, Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness and the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness; Oregon’s Three Sisters Wilderness; and Washington’s Olympic National Park. In 2007 my son Nat and I backpacked for six days through Oregon’s Mt Jefferson Wilderness. My mind would like to do more but my body isn’t sure.
